Make a wish...
Saturday, October 5, 2002 (09:56 p.m. )

Wooh! Tiga hari aku tak blog betul-betul. Gomen! Been really busy and I wanted to take my time to write a long, proper blog.

Thursday was a pretty slow day. Things only turned interesting at night, when Shuq called me. :) We were planning to meet for the first time on Friday along with Hani and Yong. Interesting piece of conversation:

Me: (Handphone rings) Excuse me, jap. (Answer phone. Hani) Hello?

Hani: Hallo. Are we still on for tomorrow?

Me: Yes, yes. Infact, I'm talking to Shuq right now.

Hani: Oh? Tell him : You're male. Therefore, you are strange.

Me: Umm, OK. (to Shuq) Message from Hani: You're male. Therefore, you are strange.

Shuq: Tell her: You are female. Therefore, you will never be understood.

I am surrounded by such bizarre wit! :)

Chatted on with Shuq til really late. He was scaring me with these cerita hantu, espesh the ones that involved UiTM. Note to Shuq: I still go there. There's no need to make me paranoid! Tiba-tiba I felt a presence. I turned around and saw a cat.

We don't have a cat. And we were on the second floor.

It stared at me for a few seconds, then turned and walked away calmly. I instantly got up running after it, yelling for Popo to wake up to look for it because it was heading towards her direction. But Popo was asleep. And when she woke up, we did not find the cat. It had vanished.

Popo: Are you sure it was a cat? It could have been a cicak.

Me: ...

Next day, woke up earlier than usual (ie 10ish) to ready myself. Decided to wear skirt instead of jeans because Popo had washed my favourite pair (boo! hiss!).

Popo: Are you sure you saw a cat last night?

Me: Yes!

Popo: Well, why didn't we find it then?

Me: ...Maybe I ngigau.

Popo: Maybe it was a cicak.

Me: Cicaks don't have fur.

Hani picked me up and we went off to Bangsar LRT station. Ugh, nasty Friday noon jam. Pointed out this creepy commercial they have in the LRT Tunnel. Has anyone seen it? It's by Canon. I think it's an LCD display. It's really cool but kinda creepy when you suddenly see moving images in the LRT tunnel...

Met Shuq at Coffee Bean. Whoa! He has more grey hairs than I thought he would...Ooh, and a fascinating Xena chakram like pendant. V cool. Yong was late. Caught in jam or something like that. Had this chicken and mushroom linguini. Didn't think much of it, too heavy on the pepper and garlic for my taste. But coffee was good. I love Coffee Bean's Black Forest.

Yong arrived, I belanja-d him a drink as a belated birthday present. Once we were done, we went to watch a flick: S1M0NE, starring Al Pacino. I like it! It's very funny, although I think the ending's a bit far-fetched. Pacino (still gorgeous at his age I might add) plays Victor Taransky, a director who decides to digitally create his star. Problem is, people are convinced that she is real and all sorts of crazy things ensues as he tries to keep up with his lie.

Later, we lepaked by the KLCC Garden. Hani and I were 'spotted' by this modeling agency. V flattered. Until I got home that is.

Me: Guess what? Hani and I were discovered-

Euns: (snort) Let me guess, she was from this modeling agency?

Me: ...yeah. How did you know?

Euns: Me and my friends pernah kena as well. But we didn't bother.

Me: Why not?

Euns: Cos they must be pretty desperate! They pick up practically every girl there is in KLCC. Heck, they've even been in Sri Aman on Ko-Op Day!

Me: ...

Well. At least I can claim that the first time I was 'discovered', it was by an honest to goodness professional. I can't remember his name, but he's a big wig at RTM. He was crazy about my speech style. He wanted to take me as his protégé but being the camera shy idiot that I am, I declined.

Hani dropped me off at home, while she and Yong went to Mid Valley.

Euns: It's all your fault. Now, I'm paranoid about being in my own room!

Me: Me? Why? What did I do?

Euns: You told Popo you saw a cat come out from my room last night.

Me: Well, I did. She finally believes me?

Euns: She has two theories: either you were hallucinating or you saw a rat. So they've set a mouse trap in my room!

We had to sleep at Taman Medan that night. Popo punya pasal. As mentioned in previous blog, she had turned paranoid about leaving the house unoccupied. Nevermind the fact that Eunice had been there earlier in the day. Have to tidur there jugak. Bah.

It was there that I dropped my precious handphone. At first, I thought it was alright. I've dropped it a few times, especially when I was in UH, and it had survived. Unfortunately, luck was no longer by my side.

The display is now broken. I can't see a single thing on the screen. Oh, the light works fine. Everything else is perfectly alright. I can make, hear and receive calls and SMSes. Just don't expect me to be able to read who it's from. It's like being blind. I have to totally rely on sound and memory. Am upset about this. Called Cindy to complain. Called Hani and begged her to post SOS blog requesting people NOT TO SMS me.

Unfortunately, not everybody reads my blog so I received quite a number of SMSes. It was bloody frustrating.

Thank you to (the early wishers) Fahimah, Jeremy, Cindy, Julie, (first in the day itself) Aiz, (the next few) Shuq, Anas, Mom, Mr Ex, Eunice, Maz, Effa, Hani, Byong, San-Chan, and Mary. Note to Nina: I think it SUCKS that you don't call me for my birthday. And don't give me the but-I-lost-your-number excuse, I gave out my number on last week's email reminder. >:p Aku dah merajuk gila ni!!

Aiz called me immediately after Survivor. Turns out we're both suckers for the show! Lol. Mom called sometime at 1 AM, scaring the bejesus out of me. She had decided to use the house phone instead of my hand phone. Do you know how creepy it is to hear your phone ring in the dead of the night? I was thinking, "Omigod, who died? What's wrong?!" and images of Scream filled my head ("Hello, Sydneeeeeey" turns to "Hello, Thajuuuuuuu"). Scary scary. Thank god it was just mom!

She asked my plans for the day, I expressed my tale of hand phone woes and she said I could buy a new one! YAY! But I agreed to it only if I pay half of it. This way, I will feel less guilty about having a nicer hand phone. But I sayang lah my 3210! It's the best, really it is. It's the only 3 series that I like. (Sorry San-Chan and Hani and Nina: Your phones are nice and all, but 3210 rocks!). I already know which phone I want now. I've just talked to my cousin Byong about it, he'll help me get my 3210 fixed and buy a new one cos I know nuts about this stuff and feel more assured with his help.

Mr Ex called at about 330 AM. God. Damn. I had finally settled into sleep by then (was still feeling dizzy from viral infection) when he called. He called real late cos  he had just came back from drinks with the boss. I'm still amazed, sometimes, that I'm on such good terms with him. I mean, let's consider the facts of our break-up. For most people, it would not have been so amicable. But here we are, still calling each other (in a blue moon or two) and wishing each other well. I think it's wonderful. A tad pelik at times, but wonderful.

Woke up with black eyes but oddly enough, wasn't tired. When I got home, Popo and Kong-Kong wished me a happy birthday. Wow! They remembered, that's nice. :) I was also greeted by a dozen beautiful red roses courtesy of my mom. Double wow! Mom remembered that red roses are my favourite.

I got ready for my lunch with Aiz and Popo started hounding me about what to wear. So much for making your own decisions when you're 21. She chose my whole ward robe. In the end, I looked rather nice, yes, but over dressed. I wanted to run up and down the house shrieking, "Over done! Over done!". I had planned on wearing jeans or slacks at the most, but noooooo, here I was dressed in one of my best raw silk cheong sam tops and matching embroided skirt. Perfect for a night out, but over kill for a casual lunch and movie. ARGH. But I wanted to make her happy, and she seemed to be very happy to baby me, so who am I to complain? I even tolerated her when she insisted on doing my hair and make-up! ^_^;

I'm just too nice sometimes. Such a pushover.

So I met up with Aiz at Bangsar LRT station. He took me to a nice place, Strudels, at Bangsar for lunch. He gave me a birthday present! I was so shocked! I wasn't expecting a present. I mean, I think it's enough that he takes me out for lunch, he didn't have to do that. Anyway, he got a lovely bracelet. Yeah, more to add to my collection! :)

Later, we went to OU for a movie. This time, I belanja. Aiz wasn't too happy, but I insisted and he was distracted with this phone call, so he couldn't argue. Heh heh heh! I just don't think he has to spend too much on me. Lunch, a present, AND movie some more? Wah, dahsyat, dashyat! Which is why I insisted on paying for the movies.

He also bought me a birthday cake! Tiramisu, baby! Mmm...

Got home. Received SMSes from more well-wishers. I had switched my SIM card to Popo's still functioning phone. So people, you can SMS me now! :) Ain't that nice?

Evening, picked up Eunice from LRT station, picked up cake and dinner.

Home. Had Birthday Dinner. Nice!

I'm being low-key this year, just a small, simple, quiet dinner. Nothing fancy. For some reason, I see no point in celebrating. I'm 21, hoo-hah-ray. What's the big deal? I can already do most of the stuff I could do when I turned 18! What, I can vote? Oh, yeah, that's something to look forward to.

Julie just called. She wants a detailed report of my date with Aiz. Aiyo, people! Macam paparazzi lah korang ni. But...I LOVE YOU JUST THE SAME ***HUGS***. The wonderful, wonderful people I know make birthdays worth going through. :) Yes, OK, I had a good time. I enjoyed myself immensely. Aiz was lovely, can't you tell?

OK, OK. I go and report to my hubbie now. Ta!

Happy Belated Birthday to Mazzie and Jeremy!

Didn't go online yesterday, which is why it's belated. The reason being that I'm sick. Bleh. I've caught a nasty viral infection that brings waves of nausea and diarrhea and dizzy spells. Not good, not good. :(

Went out to Bangsar with the girls on Monday night. We had a nice time chatting, and I gave Mazzie her birthday present (finally). Oh and we embarrassed Mazzie by singing Happy Birthday to her at midnight. Aren't we nice? :> Farhan joined us (really, really late but better than never, kan?). We were kicked out at about 1 am (boo! hiss!) from San Francisco.

While Mazzie and Farhan left for home, Jules, Hani and I opted for cruisin'! Actually, the grrls wanted to go clubbing but I pointed out that it's Monday and 1 am. Would they still be open? Plus, we might have to pay for cover charge (no thanks!). Regardless of those facts, we went anyway and yes, the scene was dead.

So what to do? Cruisin lah!

Interesting incident in HANICar:

Me : (In the back seat. Spies something in the darkness. Ominous feeling rises) Oh shit...

Jules: What?

Me : Something's moving.

Hani: Nonsense. I just cleaned my car.

Me : That. Is. A. Roach!

Jules: (looks) Nah, it's not. It doesn't have wings.

Me : Yes, it is! (grabs box) DIE! (SLAM. Drop) Dead!

Julie and Hani : (snicker) Are you sure it's dead? Cockroaches are hard to kill.

Me : ...(eyes corner and twitches in seat)

Mid-way of cruising, Hani had the bright idea of searching for the American Embassy so she could apply for a visa or something (can't quite remember). And being the wild adventurous types that we are, we decided not to look for it in the map! Hebat kan? :) But we ended up a bit, erm, lost and Hani had grabbed for the map. So much for adventure...

The map said the American Embassy was at jalan something or another, near the German one. So off we sped.

Hani: So where is it?

Julie: It's supposed to be before Jalan U Than (or something like that).

Me : But we just passed Jalan U Than.

Julie: We did? Oh shit! U Turn, U Turn!

Repeat the above conversation 3-4 times. Yes, we made that many U Turns.

Hani: Where is it?

Me : I don't know.

Julie: All I see is this one big building...

Me : I can't read the sign.

Julie: Neither can I.

Me : It's too small.

Julie : Yeah.

Me : Do you think that big building is the American Embassy?

Julie and Hani: ...(go to U-Turn again)

But after all that trouble, Hani didn't pass her visa application thingy cos she forgot something. Oh well. We continued our bit of cruising and then headed to Hani's apartment because she insisted that she wanted to blog. Well, she's the one driving the car, so how can we resist?

Jules and I played Tarots. Interesting readings. I love Hani's Tarot deck, it's beautiful. I'm still not good at reading them though, it was my first time trying.

By 3ish, I sensed something wasn't quite right me. I was getting a headache and was feeling nauseous. Blergh. Hani pun tak sihat sangat.

4ish. Went to Taman Medan. Talked more about Cuti-Cuti Malaysia plan on the way. We've decided to stay in the city for Penang, instead of the beach because we're already going to Cherating. Hmm, San-Chan you sure cannot go? Even for Genting? :( And Cin, we'll try to fix it some way you can ikut for Genting ya?

The original plan was to watch Gladiator at Taman Medan. (Hani: I feel like action. With some buffed males) But by the time we got there, we were too bloody exhausted. Hani used my phone to talk to Tariq (I don't know how because my phone line is all crackly). Had to vomit before I went to bed. Blergh blergh.

Woke up and felt like shit. Vomit again. Like I had spent the night drinking more than just Perrier Water. Vomit again. Suspect that I have food poisoning. Hani drove me home and vomit again. I found that Popo had cooked her delicious nasi ayam, that I just love. But I felt too bloody sick to eat.

You can say that I spent most of my day with my head stuck in the toilet. If I wasn't hurling my guts out, I'd be asleep or lying down. I tried to force myself to eat and drink only to have it go back up. Most annoying. Popo wanted me to go to the doctor but I was being a stubborn jack-ass because I don't want to see the doctor. I hate medicine! Blergh! But by 8, the symptoms still plagued me and I finally surrendered.

Eunice drove me to the doctor. He told me that I've a viral infection (Shuq: What nasty virus would dare to infect you?) The nasty gastric virus. Heh. Biasalah tu. I'm forever getting gastric even though I eat regularly enough. This was a rather nasty sort of gastric though. Doc gave me pills for nausea, diarrhea, salts for dehydration and that icky chalk water for my aggravated stomach. Blergh blergh blergh!

Shuq and Aiz asked me out today. Isn't this nice? So much to do on my holiday! I'll be seeing Shuq this Friday with Hani and Yong (who's been calling me a lot lately because he's either bored or horny ;) ). I've yet to set a day with Aiz yet (probably Saturday kut). He said he wants to belanja me lunch for my birthday. Wah, so nice so nice! The only problem is I don't feel like eating now...

Do you know how many "Wanna go out?" I've received but not one falling through. Let's just hope this one makes it, yeah?

I've been battle the urge to retch all day. I've had to force feed myself so that my perut tak kosong when I makan ubat. It's no fun, especially as I actually do enjoy food.

I O Julie a chocolate cake at San Francisco. Let's just say I lost a bet.

High
Monday, September 30, 2002 (06:44 p.m. )

Went to the hospital in the morning. Had to park at the 6th floor. Was muttering about my bad luck in the stair case when I found...RM 10. Woo hoo! I wouldn't mind parking any higher if it brings me more ca$h :D

Dr Hatim wasn't in. He usually isn't on Mondays so I got a Dr Rusdi instead. He wasn't very nice to me and started asking all sorts of questions that I didn't feel like talking about to him. You're not my shrink! Why the bleeding hell should I talk to you? But I swallowed my aprehension and co-operated. I'm under the impression that he thinks I'm a liar, because he doesn't believe my medication ran out just like that.

I don't like him much.

Anyway, it turns out that my meds finished because there's a new ruling in the pharmacy. Only a max of two months meds supply is allowed to a person. Funny. They gave me a month.:/

Got home, rested a bit and then went to Midvalley with my grandparents and Byong. Kong-Kong wants a DVD Player. Oh, yeah!

Have you ever had this strange urge of random violence? I do. When I went to Jusco with my Popo, I had this daydream of grabbing all the fragile ware (glass, porcelains, crystals) and smashing them to pieces. I wanted to bring havoc. I wanted to destroy all those beautiful, delicate things.

And then I snapped out of it and told myself I can do all that when I can afford to purchase them first.

Wah, Jean, Nina and Jeremy have new layouts! Ho leng! I want to do new layout too. Later, later. Don't have time yet. So far, this cuti has been busy. I like!

Gtg! Plan to have drinks with Jules, Hani, Mazzie and Jan tonight at Bangsar. Ah, the life of a social butterfly!

Bad Grrl
Sunday, September 29, 2002 (06:52 p.m. )

Wooh! What fun I had last night at Mazzie's birthday :)

Eunice had sent me cos Popo wouldn't let me drive (she was worried about the parking). 5 minutes in Jaya and I realised that I had made the ultimate boo-boo: forgot to bring the birthday present- ARGH! Stupid stupid STUPID! I beat myself up pretty bad about it, I still feel miserable about it. Dear God, how could I? Classic TJ. Always forgetting something. Dumb ass.

Mazzie had seated me at the end with Hani. We went through dinner talking to two lovely gents, Aiz and Such (pronounced as Sooch). I suspected Mazzie was trying to set me up with one of them. Today, she confirmed that yes, that was her diabolical scheme. Am now heinously embarrassed. Regardless of that fact, I like those two very much. They were so kawaii and funny! :) They have Hani and I punya number, I wouldn't mind if they called.

Mazzie had a gorgeous birthday cake. Chocolate. When eating cake, Nina, Haz and San-Chan had decided to scoot over to our end of the table. It was at that point that Such decided to proclaim himself as gay. Nina and Haz of course, were thrilled. Especially Nina, being the slash-obsessed chick that she is. ;) Wah, that makes Such the second cute med student I met who's gay (Anas being the first).

Once kena halau by the not-too-subtle waiters, we marched on to Coffee Bean. That was really nice. I made yet another classic TJ blunder.

Me: (to table) Hey, anyone want some (of this drink)? Tropical Passion. Nice. With whipped cream.

Nina: Ooh, I'll try some. (takes sip)

Maz: No thanks. On second thought, yeah. No. Yeah. Yeah! (takes sip)

Waiter: (calling from counter) Hey, your drink!

Me: Did somebody order another drink?

Tan: No.

Maz: Not yet.

Waiter: (comes over. Looks at me) Here's your drink.

Me: Eh? Then what's this...? (reads name on drink) Mr Charles. Uh-oh.

So I got a free drink. Gave it to Nina. Actually, Nina claimed it as hers. That's OK. Nina was upset because some grade A asshole groped her ass and stole her new handphone earlier. I don't think I was much help. Sorry Nina!

I rambled on about planning trips to Genting, Cherating and Penang. Took more pictures. Ooh, mata aku flashing all night. *_* Nina and Haz are planning to create a quiz: "Which YCCian Are You?". The girls want to know the results Tan would get. Haha! And what about Tariq and Jeremy? That should be interesting, ne? Here's hoping it turns out alright!

We stayed there til 1240 AM. Why? We got kicked out again. Heh heh.

Ooh, and Such confessed that he isn't gay. Aww, nuts. I thought he looked rrrrrrrrreeeeeally cute with Azhai or Aiz. ^_- Ah, the banter between them! The chemistry!

Went home with Hani (return of the HaniCar- HOORAY!), Jules and Jan. We mutilated songs on the way. Hani had decided to take the long way back to my house. She was stoned.

Reached home just before 1. Aiyeee! Lewatnya!!! Popo was up too. She was more mad at me for forgetting to bring Maz's gift than anything else. Heee...gomen! ^_^;

Tossed and turned in bed for an hour. This was madness. SMSed several people "Argh! Can't sleep. Too buzzed. Bore me to death please?" with the theory that at least one of them will reply. Juli called using Hani's phone. She nearly berjaya-d with her reading some deadly dull textbook to me but then the topic turned to bitching. And since bitching is one of my favourite (useless) past times, the sleepiness the text book brought went out the window.

Ended up falling asleep somewhere between 4 to 5 frickin AM. My eyes were screaming for sleep, my brain was too busy whizzing around to listen. Oy. Guess what time I woke up today? 1230 pm. Felt like crap.

Watched the last episode of Buffy and Angel again today. Sad that I'll have how many months for the next season. Bah.

Mazzie called me today. I apologised once again for being a lousy friend and thanked her for inviting me to the dinner. She had called me up for a post-mortem. Lol.

I had unwittingly made a double-date tomorrow. I had promised Julie ages ago that I'd go out with her once her finals were over on the 30th. I also promised my grandparents to take them to Midvalley on Monday. I didn't realise that Monday is the 30th! Chalk up another point for TJ's density. As my grandparents would kill me if I didn't go out with them, I had to cancel with Julie. Uuuu, I want to go to KLCC and gossip with the girls too!!! ~^_^~

Have a medical appointment tomorrow. Bleh. Have to wake up early. Am not looking forward to it.

But I am looking forward to tomorrow night. I've made plans with Juli and Hani to sleep over at Taman Medan. We'll be going to San Francisco at Bangsar. Hopefully, Mazzie and Jan will join us so I can give them their birthday presents.

Hey Shuq! Wanna meet up with Hani, Nina and I during the hols? Give me a call! Ajaklah Yong sekali kalau nak. ^_^

Oh, and yes, before I forget:
